Open Blog and More Jeremy

I think I figured out how to open up this blog so we all can post to it. It will be MUCH more fun this way. Now you can all post pics, videos, opinions, or whatever! I really encourage you to join - I think it will be fun!

Lisa and I rode with Jeremy today. Chris called me with a last minute opening in the clinic. Lisa was already at the barn, so I came out and told her she was riding! Fritz looked absolutely amazing today, so I think I'll just surprise Lisa in the future..... :-)

I am determined to get the ones on William. I got a few more today, but now I'm on a mission!! (Poor William!)

  1. The clinic was such a wonderful experience. I cannot thank Tracie and Martha enough for making this hope a reality. Jeremy likened the weight of our upper body back to an anchor behind a boat that drags along picking up the bow of the boat or in our case the shoulders of the horse. It really stuck in my mind. The following day of the clinic, I thought I was coming along to watch and help groom but Tracie surprised me at the barn and said you are riding today. No time to get nervous-we just loaded and went. I was much more relaxed and Fritz was a little more up being away from home. The combination seemed to work! It was great to have Kathy and Holly there before the ride to help tell me if I was far enough back....Great coaching :) See you at the barn!

  2. Wow, sorry I missed the Sunday rides!!!! I can't wait to try that idea about the anchor. I am wondering, though: Won't this slightly-behind-vertical position of our upper body cause our legs to get more toward chair position? How do we prevent this from happening? Maybe it will become apparent when I try it out tomorrow on Fritz, but I'm trying to mentally practice it. Any thoughts????

I've certainly noticed with Fritz that as soon as I make myself more erect and anchored, he picks up his charming feet in a different way. :) And a couple of times when I was slightly behind the vertical because I was readjusting my position, he skooched (sp?) forward in a most energetic way, with that front end very active. Each time that happened, it felt good, but I had convinced myself it was wrong because I "knew" I was behind the vertical and that was Against the Law. Maybe, in fact, I was only marginally behind vertical, if what Jeremy was saying was true about everyone thinking they're touching the croup when they're just vertical...

He sure is an interesting and approachable guy. I like him.

  3. Hello All,
I am not sure if I am doing this right - but here goes... Does anyone want to plan on a trail ride this Sunday? The weather should be great and the ground should be pretty dry. I was thinking around 10 or 11. What do you think? Monica - will you be our guide and anchor lady? Kathy :-))
